Slow Cooker Chuck Steak Pot Roast

Printer-Friendly version

about 1 1/2 pounds of chuck steak
2/3 cup water
salt
pepper

Lightly salt and pepper steaks on both sides. Place in slow-cooker, getting as close to a single layer as possible, and add 2/3 cup water. Set slow cooker on high and cook for 3 1/2 hours. Do not add water unless necessary to prevent burning; you want it to get nice and brown towards the end. After 3 1/2 hours, turn slow cooker off and let it sit for another hour.

The slow cooker crock can be cold-deglazed to make gravy if desired.

This is an easy way to turn tough chuck steaks into a few servings of delicious, tender pot roast.
